'Is There Time for a Winner?' - Sheffield Wednesday's 2022/23 promotion miracle

Rating is 5.0 out of five stars based on 3 reviews

As the final whistle went in Sheffield Wednesday's play-off first leg against Peterborough United, it felt like their promotion hopes had been blown, too. The Owls were four goals down, their fan base was in pieces and from a position of seemingly-unsurpassable strength just a few weeks earlier, their world had caved in on them.

What followed, over the course of 17 days in May, was unlike anything ever seen before; one of the most remarkable comeback stories in sport, punctuated by breathless late goals, never-say-die spirit and jubilation untold. Told by those with unrivalled access to the campaign's highs and lows, and recording the journeys of those who made it happen, this is the remarkable inside story of the Owls' 2022/23 season - from their pre-season trip to Portugal to club-record runs, from 96 points to 90+8 and from their gut-punch fall, to the greatest play-off campaign in football history.

About the authors

Alex Miller and Joe Crann are the Sheffield Wednesday writing team for The Star newspaper and, between them covered every key moment, on and off the pitch, of a remarkable 2022/23 campaign for the Owls. Joe is a lifelong Wednesdayite while Alex has slowly but surely fallen in love with the Owls since being seconded to The Star back in 2019. A graduate of Leeds Trinity University, where he completed an undergraduate and master's degree in journalism, Alex wrote for newspapers including the Yorkshire Post and Halifax Courier before joining The Star and seeing his loan move made permanent two months later.

Joe has been covering football across the world for over a decade now and recently came back to his home city of Sheffield to write about the team that he grew up supporting. It didn't start off particularly well, with relegation in the first season following his return home, but the 2022/23 campaign made all of that worth it and offered up the perfect opportunity to co-write his first book with his most trusted colleague.

I was late for work thanks to this

I was at Wembley last season and am an adopted Wednesday fan having found them 15 years ago and falling hard. This book is absolutely fantastic and when I started it I was late for work as simply couldnt put it down. Its given me more hope that perhaps The Owls can have another miracle this season. WAWAW

A stunning account of a remarkable season

A remarkable book on a remarkable season, told by two writers closer to the action than any other writer. A brilliant memento of a season never to be forgotten and highly recommended.
